Returns and refunds
What applies when a purchase is to be undone. Short and without small print.
No statutory right of withdrawal
In Switzerland there is no statutory right of withdrawal when buying over the internet. This is stated here because many people know something else from EU law — what applies is the following.
Software
A downloaded program is not taken back: it cannot be returned, and whoever downloaded it has received it.
Faults are the exception. If a product does not work as described and the problem cannot be fixed within a reasonable time, the purchase price is refunded in full. Just get in touch in that case — no form is needed and no further justification.
If you are unsure before buying whether a product fits your setup, please ask. An answer beforehand suits both sides better than a refund afterwards.
Subscriptions
A period already running is not refunded pro rata. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period; no further invoice follows. A period already paid for runs out.
Used hardware
What applies is set out in the terms and conditions under clause 5: sold as seen, with twelve months’ warranty towards private individuals. If a device differs from its description, it is taken back and the purchase price refunded.
How a refund works
A short email to the address given in the legal notice is enough, with the invoice or order number. The refund goes the same way the payment came, usually within five working days. With a card payment it can take a few days longer, depending on the bank, until the amount is visible.
Please get in touch first
If something is wrong, write — before you start a chargeback with your bank. A chargeback costs both sides time and fees, and almost everything can be settled in an email.
This is a translation. In case of doubt the German version applies.
